Vanilla Ice Cream With A Twist

I love vanilla ice cream. Yes, it may sound plain but what I love about it is you can spice it up. Vanilla is like the generic flavor in the ice cream kingdom. But with lots of  imagination, you can create something interesting. Try topping it with  sprinkles or how about drizzling it over with something a little bit more adventurous like balsamic vinaigrette? A friend of mine told me about this interesting twist. At first, the thought of serving ice cream with vinegar was a little bit unappealing to me. Well, it was only after he clarified that you actually use the fruity balsamic flavor and not the salad vinaigrette did I consider giving it a try. Surely enough, it was fantastic! The burst of flavors from the fusion of sweetness and acidity and the strawberries soaked in balsamic vinaigrette gave a different but delightful twist to the good-old vanilla ice cream.

All you will need is a tub of good vanilla ice cream, a punnet of fresh strawberries and a good bottle of balsamic vinaigrette. Enjoy!

Use a good fruity balsamic vinaigrette to soak your strawberries in.

Soak the halved strawberries in balsamic vinaigrette for at least an hour. A chef friend recommended at least four hours but it is up to your personal liking.

Serve the ice cream topped with the soaked strawberries and drizzle with a bit more of the balsamic vinaigrette. Beautiful!
